MELROSE SPECIAL EDUCATION PARENT ADVISORY COUNCIL

What we are:
The Melrose Special Education Parents Advisory Council is a district wide volunteer organization; we serve as a resource to parents of children with disabilities ages 3-22, serving all Melrose supported schools.   We work closely with the Melrose Public School District administration and educators to identify areas of need and act in an advisory role to the School Committee and the administration.  Parent Advisory Councils are state mandated advisory groups (Massachusetts Special Education Law & Regulations, 603 CMR 28.07, (4)).

What we do:
We offer a broad range of information, and opportunities for members to meet and share information they have found useful in guiding their children's education, and will help you connect with other parents.  We have monthly presentations on a variety of topics.  We also meet monthly with the Director of Pupil Personnel Services to present the ideas, questions and concerns of the membership, and keep abreast of the progress of District initiatives.

Who we are:
Our membership is open to parents (or guardians) of children who have an Individualized Education Program (IEP), 504 plan or anyone interested in special education in Melrose. We are parents of children who have learning differences. We are a resource for support, networking, and information.
